Mobile Student ID Card
What is a Mobile Student ID?
The Mobile Student ID is a system designed to enhance students' campus experience by eliminating the need for physical, plastic student ID cards. It offers convenient access to various campus facilities, including the library, serves as a form of identification, and can be used for electronic payments (in advance), all through students' personal mobile devices.
Purpose of the Mobile Student ID
- The Mobile Student ID aims to create a convenient and smarter campus environment for Sogang students through a strategic partnership (investment) with Woori Bank.
- The Mobile Student ID is an exclusive digital student ID card for individuals and replaces traditional plastic ID cards. Students can seamlessly access school facilities, request certificates (Gonzaga), and make electronic payments using Woori Bank's Wibi Pay.
Advantages of the Mobile Student ID
- Enables students to enjoy a smart campus life using just their smartphones, eliminating the need for a physical wallet or additional cards (the system provides student IDs for enrolled/on leave students and a pass for all others).
- Simplifies new enrollments and re-issuances in the case of loss, increasing efficiency.
- Reduces loss and hassle. Simultaneous usage of plastic student ID and smartphone is prohibited, which reduces the risk of theft even if a student loses their mobile student ID.
- Allows integrated access. Students can access the library (including reading rooms and group study room reservations) and make electronic payments for on-campus services (more amenities will be covered in the future).
- Removes the need to update sign-ins or update photos since the mobile student ID is synched with the SAINT username and password for enrolled/on leave students
- Enables easy library access by allowing students to simply scan their QR code
- Allows direct access without the need to open a separate student ID App as the system seamlessly integrates with the Sogang University App
Main Functions
- The Mobile Student ID is linked to the Sogang University App and serves as a Library Pass, increasing convenience for users
- Enables convenient online applications for student ID issuance, enhancing accessibility
- Boasts enhanced security and efficient management with its integrated database management
- Duplicate use with a physical card is prevented to control access and use of libraries and other facilities by a stranger
- Accommodates future enhancements and features
- Until the system is fully stabilized, the existing "Loyola Library" app will remain operational, allowing students to use it concurrently with the Mobile Student ID app for a limited period
